Utility Room Reset
Before and After

About this project
This family wanted their utility room to feel more functional and less stressful to use day‑to‑day. The space had become a catch‑all for laundry, cleaning supplies, and overflow items, which made simple tasks take longer and added to the mental load.
We emptied every cupboard, categorised the contents, gently decluttered what was no longer needed, and reorganised everything in a way that created clear, simple systems. The aim was to make it easy for things to go back in the right place and for the whole family to use the room without overwhelm.
Client Words
“Sophie was very careful to make sure that any special/sentimental items were put to one side for me to review.”
“Decluttering can be life‑enhancing, and can free up not only your living space but also your mind.” – M.B, Sheffield

“I had often viewed with scepticism the claims proliferating about decluttering. Apparently it could change your life, allow you to be more in control, help you and your home feel lighter and brighter…and even make space for miracles and then I met Sophie and my cynicism vanished.
Living in the same very large house for over 50 years and in this time bringing up a very large family is a recipe for clutter accumulation. I needed help.
Sophie has worked alongside me, one small area at a time, and we have sorted and classified and importantly moved on some of my very numerous possessions.
Understanding the psychology behind a tendency to hoard, to hang on to things for reasons of nostalgia or sentimentality enables her to be totally non judgemental. At no time did it feel intrusive having Sophie in my home.
In just two sessions we have decisively worked our way through book cases and DVD collections, through outdated children’s toys and board games and reduced and re organised the contents of my overfilled filing cabinet. After each session Sophie has, to my relief, taken away numerous bags and boxes whose contents hopefully will help the local Charity shop.
There is still more to do! I have drawers full of photos from before the digital age which will take some sorting out and still a few unexplored cupboards. Sophie will come back again for more sessions but surprisingly to me she has inspired me with the motivation to push on independently in between her visits and even enjoy the process.
And funnily enough I do find that decluttering can be life enhancing, and can free up not only your living space but also your mind.”
Kids’ Bedroom & Desk Reset for a Calm Start to High School
Before and After

About this project
This young person was about to start high school and needed a bedroom and desk space that felt calm, organised, and supportive for homework. Over time, the room had become a mix of childhood items, school supplies, and general clutter, which made it hard to focus and even harder to keep tidy.
We decluttered items that were no longer needed, then reorganised the room so that schoolwork, stationery, and personal belongings each had a clear, simple home. By creating a more grown‑up layout and reducing visual distractions, the space now feels calmer to be in and much easier to use independently.

“Before signing up, I felt overwhelmed by the space and unsure where to start, as everything had built up to the point that it felt unmanageable. I decided to use Sophie’s service because I needed calm, structured support and a clear plan to help me begin the decluttering process. The biggest benefit has been the calm, quiet guidance alongside practical, achievable steps, as well as having clear ideas of what to do independently to continue the sorting and organising after the session.
Sophie did exceed my expectations through her thoughtful, non-judgemental approach and the way she left me feeling more in control with a realistic plan to keep the momentum going.”
Paperwork After a Bereavement
Before and after

About this project
This client had been holding onto several bags of paperwork following a bereavement. The emotional weight of opening them felt too heavy, so the bags were tucked away and avoided for months. Every time they saw them, it brought up sadness, stress, and a sense of not knowing where to begin.
We worked through everything gently and at a pace that felt safe. Together, we discussed what types of documents were important to keep, what could be safely let go of, and what held sentimental value. By the end, we had clear categories for essential paperwork, items needing action, and anything ready for shredding.
The bags were emptied, the important documents were organised, and the client said they felt relieved knowing this difficult task was no longer hanging over them.
Client Words

“After my dad passed away, I was faced with the overwhelming task of going through years of his paperwork. Sophie stepped in and made what felt like an impossible job not only manageable, but surprisingly comforting. She approached everything with sensitivity, care, and professionalism.
She sorted through bags of paperwork with incredible attention to detail, organising everything clearly and efficiently. What meant the most to me, though, was that she didn’t just treat it all as clutter – she noticed and set aside some sentimental things my dad had doodled or written, pieces I might have missed in the midst of it all.
Sophie brought order, peace of mind, and a real sense of care to a very emotional task. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”
“The organising has worked so well that weeks later everything is still tidy — it feels like it keeps itself that way.” – B.SG, Sheffield

Kitchen & Household Cupboard Reset
Before and after

About this project
This client had two areas that had gradually become overwhelming: their kitchen cupboards and a separate household cupboard outside the kitchen. When they moved into the house, they inherited a lot of items from the previous owner – things they thought might be useful one day, so they hadn’t felt able to let go of them. Over time, both spaces became a mix of different categories, including general household bits, camping gear, tools, and items that didn’t really have a home.
We worked through each space together, decluttering and reorganising all of the kitchen cupboard contents so that the items living on the worktops could finally be put away. We talked through what was worth keeping, what could be rehomed or recycled, and what had simply been carried forward out of habit. Once we had clearer categories, we reorganised the kitchen so it felt functional and easy to maintain, and then created a more logical layout for the household cupboard so it no longer felt like a catch‑all space.
By the end of the session, both areas were calm, practical, and easy to navigate. The client said it finally felt like their home was working with them rather than against them.

“We made some big changes and got rid of so much stuff, which really feels like a weight is lifted and like I can breathe.” – S.M, Sheffield

“Sophie is so warm, kind, and was completely focused on helping me get to where I want with my house. She came up with loads of good ideas for storing and organising things in a way that’s straightforward and manageable and I can maintain . She was patient and also knew when to give me a little nudge. I felt completely comfortable having her in my home and not judged in any way.
We made some big changes and got rid of so much stuff which really feels like a weight is lifted and like I can breathe. A lot of stuff I had forgotten I had or never used. The things I’ve kept are now stored properly. The rooms we tackled feel so much better and I feel a lot calmer. It had been getting on top of me so much, but I’ve now got momentum to do more.
I’m so glad I made this step and would recommend Sophie wholeheartedly.”
“I expected it to be a harder, more harsh experience with lots of grief, but it wasn’t at all. Sophie was so gentle, encouraging and honest with me.” – H.N, virtual client

“I asked Sophie at calm-nest to help me organise and declutter before moving house. We did it online via video calls. I was very stressed looking at all my belongings, and worrying about the huge task of moving. We are stuff-heavy people between our jobs and hobbies and living in a house for 7 years accumulated a lot of gubbins. Not only that but our new place is under renovation and there would be very little space or storage for anything other than essential belongings there… AND I’m pregnant. So my hobbies would also likely to take a backseat for a while.
She made me an amazing personalised plan and identified skills I already had that would help me which made me feel so capable. It also had a suggested order to do the rooms/categories in, which was so much easier to follow than how I would have gone about it solo.
I was SO grateful for the video session we did to work through my sewing supplies & projects. It’s so easy to hoard things when they represent an exciting idea and also some of the fabrics are sentimental e.g. bought by my late Mum. Talking through each project/fabric with Sophie gave me so much clarity and I absolutely loved the result of being able to see all my projects and fabrics lined up together like books I could choose to read.
I expected it to be a harder, more harsh experience with lots of grief, like previous solo decluttering attempts have been, but it wasn’t at all. Sophie was so gentle, encouraging and honest with me, and I came out of it feeling really proud of myself.
Now I have moved I feel so in control of all my belongings and happy that there will be space for new possessions in the future. My life was very full up till Sophie helped me.”
Creating Space to Play Again – Kids’ Room Reset
Before and after

About this project
This busy mum had been doing everything she could to keep the house running, but the kids’ room had gradually filled with toys, clothes, books, and things that didn’t have clear homes. Over time, the floor space disappeared and there was no longer room for the children to play, which added even more pressure to an already full load.
We worked together to declutter and reorganise the room gently and systematically, looking at what the children actually used, what they’d outgrown, and what could be stored more accessibly. We created simple, easy‑to‑maintain categories and set up storage that worked with the family’s real routines. By the end, the room felt open, calm, and playful again, with clear zones and plenty of floor space for the kids to enjoy.

Sophie combines practical solutions with an intuitive understanding of what each space really needs to feel peaceful and functional. She worked at a pace that felt comfortable and sustainable and her systems have continued to work for me since our sessions ended.

Study Declutter & Paperwork Reset
Before and after

About this project
This client reached out after their child shared that they found clutter stressful, and they wanted the home to feel calmer and easier for everyone to live in. We worked together across several areas of the house, taking things step by step so the process felt manageable and supportive.
A big focus of our time was the study. We gathered all the paperwork from that room, went through every file together, slimmed down what we could, and set up clear, organised systems so documents could be stored logically, kept up to date, and easily found when needed. By the end, the home felt lighter, more intentional, and far less overwhelming for the whole family.

“Everyone is more relaxed because the environment around us is calmer/more organised” – E.Y, Sheffield

I decided to get in touch with Sophie from Calm Nest because the chaos in the house was overflowing, which was not at all calming and in fact quite stress inducing!!
“From my first contact with Sophie she was calm, positive, easy to talk to and non-judgemental. So I decided to go for it and ask her to come and help me sort out our attic bedroom which had become a bit of a dumping ground for boxes of various things, clothes, memorabilia and other random items. I was amazed at how much we achieved that day – it was so satisfying! After Sophie had been, there was a lot more space, things had logical places to live and things that don’t belong in the bedroom were relocated elsewhere. Whenever I walk into the room now, I smile and think what a difference it’s made, (instead of walking in and my heart sinking at the mess and never having time to sort it). I would never have got through what we did in that day if I was doing it on my own.
So then I asked Sophie to come back to sort several more rooms – the office, kitchen, toy storage and utility cupboard. I’m on a mission to get the house sorted once and for all so that it is a more relaxing space for everyone.
It has definitely been money well spent – it’s meant I can be more present with the children instead of trying to sort things whilst juggling my time with them; everyone is more relaxed because the environment around us is calmer/ more organised (especially good for neurodivergent kids) and I can find things more easily so don’t have to waste time hunting for things!
I would highly recommend Sophie and I think her business name ‘Calm Nest’ is very apt! Thank you Sophie!”
“I did feel anxious before but Sophie was wonderful to work with. She was very calm and she guided me to make my own decisions.” – M.C, Sheffield

I have worked with Sophie on a couple of projects so far, sorting through an attic space, cellar area and also through paperwork.
These were areas that I knew I needed to sort out but never found the time. I had started to work on them but always got distracted by family life. I did feel anxious before but Sophie was wonderful to work with. She was very calm and she guided me to make my own decisions. I had no hesitation asking her for help.
She researched things that were complicated to recycle, resell, give to charity. Sophie was very aware of how long things would take and as a result everything was left clean and tidy and completely sorted after the 3 hour session which felt wonderful. Boxes were labelled and Sophie took away anything for the charity shop.
Sophie was brilliant and I’m so glad I asked her to help me. I’m looking forward to booking more sessions with her.
